Do you share our vision of a city where more people walk, cycle and take public transport? Do you want to gain new skills for your CV or do something different with your spare time?
If so, we’d love to hear from you. Our projects can only happen with the support of volunteers and we’d welcome you as a new member of the team.
If you get involved as a volunteer, you could…
- help us run our events, from guided walks to information stalls and fun days
- help us in the office, learning about project management and more
- do practical hands-on work helping to maintain and upgrade local National Cycle Network routes
We work with volunteers on all of our different projects in Nottingham. Volunteers get involved in a huge range of activities and get a lot out of the experience – just listen to James:
I started volunteering for Sustrans last year through the Nottingham CVS skillsbank – a way of using the skills you have to help charities. Since then I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in helping out as a social media volunteer for the Smarter Travel Nottigham scheme.
I’ve helped out when needed at community outreach events and even started practicing what I preach by cycling into the Sustrans Office to do the volunteering! I’ve made great friends whilst being a volunteer and would recommend it to anyone looking to build on their skills whilst helping out a great cause in promoting sustainable transport. Go for it folks!
If you’re currently seeking work volunteering is a great way to build your skills and experience and show employers that you have plenty to offer.
If you become a Sustrans volunteer, you also have access to our dedicated website, VolunteerNet, which allows you to connect to other volunteers and access extra support.
